01

Find the official service first

Start on the Uttar Pradesh Police website, open Citizen Services and follow its Tenant/PG Verification link. This points to the police citizen portal. Avoid sending identity documents to a link supplied only in an advertisement or chat; check the address from the police website yourself. If the portal is unavailable, ask the relevant Shahjahanpur police station how to submit the request.

02

Use the station for the rental address

The Shahjahanpur district administration publishes a list of police stations, including city and town stations. Identify the station responsible for the home being let rather than choosing one by the landlord's own address. If a street or village is near a station boundary, confirm jurisdiction with the police before filing.

03

Agree what information will be shared

Tell the prospective tenant why identity and contact details are requested and who will submit them. Ask the police service which current form, proof of identity, rental address, landlord details, photographs or other documents it requires; do not assume that an old downloadable form covers every Shahjahanpur case. Keep copies and identification numbers out of public property listings and ordinary group chats.

04

Keep a submission trail

Save any application or acknowledgement number and the date of submission. If using a police-station route, ask for a receipt or another way to follow up. Confirm whether the request has been completed through the official channel; merely handing documents to an intermediary does not tell you what the police received.

05

Keep rental terms separate

Police verification concerns tenant information. It does not set the rent, deposit, utility responsibility, notice period or condition of the home. Put those terms in the rental agreement and record the handover separately. Ask the local police or an independent professional about any current requirement specific to your property; this guide does not decide whether a particular tenancy legally requires verification.

Next step

Saaf Pata can help a landlord collect the property facts needed to offer a home for rent. The landlord and tenant should handle personal information through the official police route and agree rental terms directly before handover.
