Gather the recorded address
Take the village or mohalla name, tehsil and property identifier from the available registered deed, khatauni or other relevant record. Write down spelling variants if the address has been recorded differently. A map pin and a familiar market name help you visit a place, but they may not match the portal's revenue village or registration locality.
Run the official locality lookup
Open IGRSUP's 'Know Your Office' page. Select Shahjahanpur as the district, then the property's tehsil and its village or mohalla, enter the displayed captcha and choose 'View Office'. Save the resulting office name with the identifiers you entered. If your locality is absent, do not select a nearby village to force a result; ask the department or relevant tehsil to clarify the recorded name.
Use the office directory for contact details
The department's office directory dated 28 September 2026 lists Shahjahanpur Sadar, Powayan, Tilhar, Jalalabad and Kalan sub-registrar offices, with their office addresses and contact numbers. The directory helps you contact an office, but the existence of an office in your town does not establish that it handles your particular property. Use the locality lookup or confirm jurisdiction with the office before entering it in an application.
Check an older deed against the result
An earlier deed may show the office where it was registered. Compare that with today's lookup, particularly if the property lies near a tehsil boundary or a locality name changed. Record any difference and ask the department before submitting a new registration form. Do not change the deed's village, plot or gata description merely to make an office selection fit.
Carry the confirmed office into the application
UP's online property-registration manual asks the applicant to select district, tehsil and sub-registrar office when starting a new application. Check that selection against the locality lookup before the parties make travel plans or pay a fee. Then prepare the deed and presentation documents for that office; the companion seller guide covers the document list separately.
Next step
Saaf Pata can collect the exact village or mohalla and available property reference before discussing a Shahjahanpur listing. The owner and buyer should confirm the current office through IGRSUP or the department for their specific parcel.
